Jason Meyers, Rick Eckert and Matt Sheppard were crowned champions in front of a sellout crowd Saturday night at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, concluding the fifth annual Lowes Foods World of Outlaws World Finals presented by Tom’s Snacks, Coca-Cola and Nature’s Own. Donny Schatz, Jimmy Owens and Tim McCreadie were the evening’s A-Feature winners.

The event, scheduled for Nov. 3-5, serves as the season finale for the nation’s three premier dirt-racing series – the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the big-block modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series. Each series is owned and operated by World Racing Group, which is headquartered only a few miles from Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Fatman Fabrications, one of the country’s largest manufacturers of hot rod performance parts, has seen its business increase substantially during the third quarter of this year. The Charlotte-based company, which employs more than 40 people, will display its products at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Oct. 28-30 Goodguys Southeastern Nationals.

Matt Kenseth took the lead from Kyle Busch on the last restart of the evening with fewer than 15 laps to go and won the 52nd running of the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kenseth claimed his third win of the year and moved up to third in points in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Chase for the Sprint Cup. Busch finished second and held off a late race challenge by third-place finisher Carl Edwards. Rounding out the top five were Kasey Kahne in fourth and Marcos Ambrose in fifth.

Carl Edwards led only five laps Friday evening, but they were the money laps as he won the Dollar General 300 Miles of Courage NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Edwards overcame an early brush with the Turn 4 wall on Lap 32 of the 200-lap event and after repairs were made, roared back through the field.

Winning the UNOH Southern Slam 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway one year ago was a life-changing moment for veteran modified racer Burt Myers. Myers is among the drivers expected to enter the second annual NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour UNOH Southern Slam 150 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Oct. 13 to defend his win.

Cars inspired by popular television shows and movies will be on display during Charlotte Motor Speedway's Aug. 25-28 Food Lion AutoFair. They will be joined in the Showcase Garage by an exhibit offering 100 years of Chevrolet automobiles, the world's lowest street-legal car, armored passenger vehicles and extreme-performance rock crawler trucks.

During the next four months, Charlotte Motor Speedway will host thousands of race cars, monster trucks, motorcycles and classic cars in the largest fall event schedule ever produced for race fans.

Several drivers continued their dominating seasons, piling on wins in Round Eight of the Summer Shootout Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Feature winners included Josh Morris, Carson Ferguson and Kyle Hall on Tuesday night.

The second annual Legends Million returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway Aug. 1 and 2. The largest grassroots race in history will once again offer the largest Legend Car and Bandolero purse of the year, as drivers do battle on the speedway’s frontstretch quarter-mile oval.

zMAX Dragway will host a Summer Drag & Brag Series on Wednesdays for six weeks from June to July. The series will feature grassroots drag racing. All vehicles are welcome, but must pass tech inspection. Tickets will be available the day of each event at Ticket Booth 2 (East Side).

The 18th annual Summer Shootout Series kicks off June 13! This season will be just seven weeks long, but still feature 10 nights of action-packed Legend Car and Bandolero racing. The series will run Tuesday nights as well as select Mondays, June 13, July 4 and July 25.

05/28/11Coca-Cola 600 Pre-Race Festivities to Feature Military Salute, Larry the Cable Guy and Darius Rucker
During the pre-race show for the 52nd running of the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday, May 29, Charlotte Motor Speedway officials will salute the U.S. armed forces with a military demonstration, special awards, military band performances and a presentation with Medal of Honor recipients. The pre-race festivities will also include an appearance by Larry the Cable Guy, voice of Mater in Disney•Pixar’s “CARS 2” and the singing of the national anthem by Capitol Records recording artist Darius Rucker.

Battery brand Energizer will "Light Up the Night" May 21 for the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Energizer, with the help of fans in attendance, will attempt to set a world record for shining the most flashlights simultaneously in a sporting arena. Energizer will distribute thousands of its LED Headlights - powered by an Energizer battery - and ask fans to “flash their brights” during pre-race activities.
